Yealands Wine Group has claimed Best Sauvignon Blanc and Best New Zealand Wine at the Cathay Pacific – International Wine and Spirit Competition, Hong Kong.
The 2015 Yealands Estate, Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc was awarded Best Sauvignon Blanc and Best New Zealand Wine in the recently announced competition results.
It is an outstanding achievement that covered the Old World, New World and Best Wine of Origin categories. It was also accompanied by several other notable awards from the competition, including 4 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze across the Yealands Family Wines portfolio.
Yealands Chief Winemaker, Tamra Kelly-Washington, “It’s amazing to see this result on one of our very special wines. With the Single Vineyard Wines, we try to express what our Seaview Vineyard has to offer throughout the diverse set of wines we make. To receive such an honor on the Sauvignon Blanc is wonderful recognition of the hard work by both the winemaking & vineyard teams”.
Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Wines come from the Seaview Vineyard in Marlborough. One of the unique attributes of the location is the harsh growing conditions the fruit endures. High sunshine and wind, cool nights and little rainfall produce smaller berries with thicker skins and more intense fruit flavours. The Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of four specific, hand selected blocks on the vineyard. Two warmer, sheltered inland blocks and two coastal blocks. The approach brings harmony to the diversity amongst the blocks. Warmer sites being more expressive in aromatics and cooler sites offering more minerality, backbone and length.
The Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc has a recommended retail price of $24.99 and is available in limited quantities from the Yealands Estate Cellar Door.
