If you’re a burger lover, wanting a taste of Hollywood – then 2021 has got one up on 2020 already.
Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has announced he’s bringing his burger chain restaurant to Australia and New Zealand.
The fast-food chain is partnering with United Cinemas, with a plan to roll out both stand-alone restaurants and some in cinema locations across the region.
CEO of United Cinemas Sam Mustaca said the company was thrilled to be teaming up with Wahlburgers for its expansion.
“We had been following the concept for years and with its natural ties to the entertainment industry, bringing Wahlburgers into the experience at United Cinemas just seemed like a perfect fit,” he said.
“The first Wahlburgers will be in Sydney’s CBD and we plan to roll out 20 more as stand-alone restaurants as well as in some of our United Cinema locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and New Zealand.
“With really great food, beers and a fun atmosphere, we think it’s going to be a big hit.”
The chain currently has over 50 locations, predominately across the US. Mark Wahlberg said he was looking forward to the first restaurant opening in Sydney. Wahlburgers was founded by brothers Mark, Donnie and chef Paul Wahlberg.
“This all started with my brother, chef Paul who has spent his entire career in the kitchen,” he said.
