To better understand the hospitality industry and where it’s headed, ResDiary reached out to venue owners, operators, and diners around Australia and New Zealand and compiled their insights. These suggest that, while the industry has faced many challenges in recent years, there’s plenty of cause for optimism heading into 2025.
For example: a standout stat from venue operators is that 76% are feeling positive for revenue growth in 2025 – with an average growth of 20% predicted!
This positivity stems from the strong signs that the market is becoming more friendly for hospitality businesses. A quarter (26%) of venue operators spoken to opened an additional venue in 2024, and 10% considered it. Looking ahead, 29% of respondents say they are considering opening an additional venue in 2025, with 17% stating that they definitely will.
This demonstrates a strong sign of buoyancy in the market, as those running existing venues have the confidence to grow their ventures.
Plus, it was revealed that 27% of diners expect to dine out more in 2025. The top reason for this, stated by 58% of the respondents who expected to increase their dining habits, was having more opportunities to spend time with friends and family.
