On-demand delivery platform, DoorDash has announced it is the delivery partner for iconic Louisiana-inspired fast food chain, Popeyes – meaning Kiwis can now chow-down on the cult favourite from the comfort of their couch.
It has launched this service with New Zealand’s first Popeyes Restaurant in Takanini, delivering to suburbs within a 7km radius of the store – including Papakura, Ardmore, Clover Park, Wattle Downs, Weymouth, Clendon Park, Alfriston, and The Gardens.
Originating in New Orleans, Popeyes has become a worldwide sensation, known for its iconic fried chicken restaurant, Popeyes Louisiana Chicken. Its first New Zealand restaurant opened in Takanini in April 2024, with crowds lining up for hours to get a taste of the menu.
“The launch of Popeyes on DoorDash is just another step forward for our dedication to delivering delicious meals (and more) right to Kiwis’ doorsteps,” says Bradley Thomas, General Manager of DoorDash New Zealand. “We’re excited to bring it to our customers, and we can’t wait to grow alongside them as they expand all around the country.”
“We’re thrilled to continue to bring Popeyes into New Zealand homes through our exclusive partnership with DoorDash” said Sharn Phillips, Head of Marketing for Popeyes New Zealand. “The excitement and demand for our fried chicken has been incredible since we first opened here. Now, with delivery we’re making it even easier for Kiwis to enjoy our bold Louisiana flavours.
DoorDash currently services 70% of the New Zealand population and the partnership with Popeyes is the latest in a series of offerings designed to cater to Kiwi customers’ cravings and provide them with the best local and global food experiences.
Following the delivery launch through Popeyes’ Takanini, DoorDash says it will expand delivery services to additional restaurants later this month, including Papatoetoe and Taupō.
