Australia’s Premier for New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian has cleared up any questions over unvaccinated patrons entering venues.
The Premier has confirmed the New South Wales Government will usher in a law that will make it illegal for unvaccinated customers to attend venues.
“It will be a health order and the law that if you’re not vaccinated, you can’t attend venues on the roadmap,” said Premier Berejiklian.
“You can’t go into a hospitality venue. You can’t go to ticketed events unless you are vaccinated.
“This is uncharted territory, but we’re providing as much certainty as possible, as much as we know exists at 70 per cent double dose.”
The Premier said it will be the responsibility of a business to monitor patrons and ensure unvaccinated people do not enter a venue, with operators facing fines for not complying with the law.
As operators gear up to reopen, they must now consider hiring security to deal with potentially disgruntled members of the public as well as training existing staff members on procedures to ensure compliance.
“We are going through compliance issues now so there is an onus on you as an individual to be vaccinated and it will depend on the size of the business,” said the Premier.
A vaccine passport is set to be piloted in regional New South Wales from 4 October at restaurants and pubs, which will see patrons scan a QR code via the Service NSW app which will display their vaccination status.
New South Wales venues are expected to receive the green light to reopen in mid-October, with the date currently tipped to be Monday 11 or 18 October at the current rate of double-dose vaccinations. Source: hospitality Magazine
