Christchurch Airport has opened a further three new eateries in its domestic terminal as part of its revamp due for completion early next year.
Canterbury restaurateurs Shawn Kim and Yong Song, who already own Sushi Platter in the terminal, are excited to have new outlets in the food court.
The two new restaurants are:-
- Hikari will serve delicious Japanese cuisine including ramen, donburi, sashimi, salad bowls and noodles.
- Mama’s Kitchen will offer Korean street food including fried chicken and tasty dumplings.
A new version of the Sushi Platter will sit right next to Hikari and Mama’s Kitchen, completing a trio of vibrant offerings.
SKY Hospitality Group co-owner Shawn Kim says it’s rewarding seeing the eateries open for the first time. “We’re privileged that the airport has given us this opportunity to share our cuisine and culture with travellers. We’re incredibly grateful to grow our presence in the airport community,” says Shawn.
David Cooper, Christchurch Airport’s GM of Customer and Commercial, says it’s great to see different cuisines join the airport offering.
“Having a wide variety of eateries for travellers to choose from is great for our airport. We’re proud to support local hospitality owners and we’re really excited to see SKY Hospitality Group grow its offering here in Canterbury.”
The revamp project will eventually see 12 new eateries open in total, along with new retail spaces, upgraded bathrooms, a new parent’s room, a remodelled food court and a large children’s play area. The project will be completed by early 2025.
