Two of New Zealand’s most popular family institutions, Muffin Break and Plunket, have teamed up to support Kiwi families.
The national sponsorship agreement announced last week sees Muffin Break providing much needed funds to support Plunket’s community services for families across the country. It will also provide community support, hosting Plunket coffee group sessions for new parents throughout the 39 Muffin Break bakery café locations. Muffin Break customers can support Plunket by donating at in-store collection boxes from 5 May 2015.
Established in 1907, Plunket is one of New Zealand’s oldest and best-known charities supporting families to help give their children the best start in life. Nine in 10 Kiwi newborns are ‘Plunket babies’. Muffin Break’s sponsorship of Plunket will help keep its services such as neighbourhood groups, parenting education, playgroups and coffee groups freely accessible for new generations of Kiwi families.
“We’re delighted Muffin Break has chosen to support Plunket. Like us, Muffin Break is very much involved in the communities in which it operates,” says Jenny Prince, Chief Executive Officer at Plunket NZ. We particularly welcome Muffin Break giving Plunket parents a space to get together, share their parenting experiences, and learn from each other.”
“We have been looking for a charity to support which holds the same values as Muffin Break,” says Muffin Break Marketing Manager, Gemma Fitzsimons. “Our aim is to use the strength of the Muffin Break brand which derives from our local, community-based stores, to help support Plunket locally and nationally,” she says.
“Children are the heart and the spark of our communities and the more we can help these communities to care for their young by supporting families to make each generation stronger than the last, the better.”
