International French Fries Day today!

“And a bowl of fries for the table please!”

That’s how my group of friends frequently complete an order when we dine out at all sorts of fast, casual or more fine dining restaurants…a guilty pleasure split among friends so none of us actually eat too many!

Whether you call them ‘French Fries’, ‘Chips’, Finger Chips, or French-Fried Potatoes, this treat is loved around the world, and French Fries Day – July 12, celebrates their glorious existence this year. Encouraging diners to support this marketing initiative could add to your bottom line today!

Fries should generally have a golden texture, varying from soft to crispy, and most often be served with little more than a dusting of salt or parmesan cheese.

National French Fry Day

Of course, National French Fry Day was created in order to celebrate this tasty food dish! Whether you have French fries when you get McDonald’s or order side dishes at your local restaurant or cafe, there is no denying that the addition of this potato dish can take any sort of meal to the next level. Therefore, it is only right that we have a National French Fry Day, so that we can indulge in as many French fries as we want and not feel too guilty about it.

National French Fry Day used to be celebrated on July 13th every year but, as of 2023, now occurs on the second Friday in July.

And in New Zealand, DoorDash and Maccas have a special celebration offer.

On demand delivery platform, DoorDash, is teaming up with McDonald’s New Zealand to bring free fries this International Fries Day, making this occasion extra golden. From 11am to 5pm NZDT today, 12 July McDonald’s orders placed via DoorDash will receive a free Large Fries.

To take advantage of this offer, customers are encouraged to add a Large Fries from McDonald’s to their cart and use the exclusive code “FRYYAY” at checkout. DoorDash has come to the party and waived all delivery and service fees. It’s a win-win situation for chip enthusiasts across the nation!

Bradley Thomas, General Manager DoorDash New Zealand said, “At DoorDash we know how much Kiwis love Macca’s Fries, and so we thought what better way to celebrate International Fries Day than to give our wonderful customers across the country free fries!”, said Thomas

Luke Rive, Director of Marketing at McDonald’s NZ said, “When you think about international fries day,  it’s hard not to picture our iconic frypack filled with our delicious crispy and golden fries. We are excited to partner with DoorDash on this initiative and play our part in delighting customers across the country with our World Famous Macca’s Fries.”
