Fusion arrives on Phu Quoc

The all-pool villa retreat is the first all-inclusive spa resort on Vietnam’s famous southern isle. Embracing originality, individuality, and total well-being, Fusion Resort Phu Quoc, the newest member of the Fusion family, brings the brand’s innovative health and wellness lifestyle to one of Vietnam’s most up-and-coming destinations. Echoing the island’s traditional coastal architecture and fishing culture, this secluded beachfront resort is the perfect way to escape the stresses, strains, and excesses of the modern world.

Opened in June 2017, with 97 rustic yet contemporary thatched villas hugging the ocean and the lush green banks of the neighboring river, the focus here is on relaxation, rejuvenation, and understated luxury, all delivered in natural surroundings and with each guest’s health and well-being at the core of the entire experience.

Take Fusion’s famous “All-Spa Inclusive” concept, for example, where daily spa treatments can be enjoyed at no extra cost. Stroll the bamboo-lined grounds of their exclusive 20-double room facility as you choose from a wide variety of massages, reflexology experiences, facials, hair and beauty treatments, and a selection of all-natural body scrubs and wraps.Time is not an issue here either. Courtesy of Fusion’s unique “Breakfast Anywhere, Anytime” service, enjoy the most important meal of the day wherever, and whenever you wish, whether it’s midday or midnight, and whether you’re by the pool, on the beach, or still horizontal in bed.

Between spa visits and long leisurely breakfasts, choose between two restaurants or a casual beachfront bar and diner, all boasting healthy, nutritious and expertly designed meals, drinks, and snacks courtesy of Executive Chef and health-oriented food expert Edmond Kwan.

As part of Fusion’s holistic approach, there are also complimentary daily indoor and outdoor yoga sessions, plus a state-of-the-art health and fitness center.

“Vacations are a great time to chill out,” says Fusion’s Founder and CEO Marco van Aggele, “but they’re also a great opportunity to get fit, get healthy, and get moving.”

For entertainment and fun for all ages, Fusion has also laid on an outdoor cinema plus various games and activities and the “Mini Maia” kids club, making this resort a great choice for families as well as couples, honeymooners, groups of friends, or solo travelers.

“With the latest Fusion property,” adds Marco, “we’ve created a wellness retreat that offers outstanding comfort and down-to-earth hospitality without the fuss and formalities of the traditional ‘luxury’ beachfront resort. We’ve also chosen a location that is currently undergoing a boom in tourism thanks to its powder white sand beaches, exotic jungles, world-class diving, and some of the freshest seafood you’ll find in Vietnam.”

Filled with earthy tones, pops of green, and raw natural materials that echo the island’s famous coastline, the resort’s 97 low-lying villas sit in perfect harmony with their surroundings, opening out through large glass doors onto private walled gardens, plunge pools, floating hammocks, and shaded outdoor living areas. For the full Fusion experience, upgrade to a beach or river-front villa for unforgettable panoramic views of a waterfront paradise.

Inside, open-plan bedrooms and living areas flow naturally into spacious open-plan ensuite bathrooms with either custom-made bathtubs or monsoon showers, or both. With Fusion’s “in-villa dining” service, you needn’t set foot outside until it’s time for your next spa appointment.

Ranging in size from a spacious 126 square meters for the One Bedroom Pool Villas, to a palatial 687 square meters for the five-bedroom Grand Beach Villa, guests will find the same levels of style, elegance and charm regardless of their budget or party size.

The cornerstone of the Fusion wellness concept is the 11,210 square-meter Maia Spa & Wellness facility, equipped with 20 double treatment rooms, spacious changing areas, a private outdoor pool, a steam room and sauna, indoor and outdoor yoga areas, a hair and beauty salon, and a fully-equipped fitness center. With the “All-Spa Inclusive” service, guests have free reign of the entire facility and its various offerings for the duration of their stay.

Sheltered open-air corridors connect the treatment rooms which surround the pepper orchard and herb garden located in the heart of the spa’s extensive grounds. Here, various ingredients are grown and cultivated for use in the spa (and in the resort’s restaurants) including the famous Phu Quoc pepper.

Maia’s signature experience, the 50-minute Natural Living Pepper massage, uses custom-blended homemade black pepper oil to realign energy flow and bring peace to the mind, body, and soul. Other treatment options include a tropical coconut and clove wrap, a soothing aloe and cucumber wrap, plus foot reflexology, natural facials, and invigorating natural body scrubs.

Each private therapy room is soft on the eyes with natural tones and timbers, the space flowing seamlessly from inside to out where visitors can enjoy an invigorating outdoor shower in a secluded private garden.

Visitors are guaranteed two treatments for each night stayed, with additional treatments based on availability.Daily yoga, tai chi, and meditation, sessions, along with a personal training service, make up the health and wellness roster available to all Fusion guests.

DINING

Two contemporary restaurants, a casual beachfront bar and diner, plus Fusion’s “Breakfast Anywhere, Anytime” service, form the resort’s gastronomic offerings and complement the wellness ethos with a range of cuisines designed by health and wellness expert and Executive Chef Edmond Kwan.

Secret Garden, the property’s all-day dining facility with seats for 180, is where the day begins, starting with an expansive international breakfast buffet including everything from Vietnamese pho to American pancakes. As the day progresses, the menu switches to an a-la-carte mix of Cantonese, Vietnamese and international delicacies, while the comfortable lounge area is perfect for a mid-afternoon coffee or freshly pressed juice. This lofty space gets its name from the hidden grove located at its core, offering pleasant views of natural greenery for those dining inside.

The menu at Pezcá, the resort’s oceanside restaurant, highlights the abundance of local seafood the island is known for. As a resort based on the west coast of Phu Quoc, Pezcá is an ideal spot to sit and watch the island’s famous sunsets with an ice-cold beer or signature Fusion cocktail. This popular location seats 80 guests.

The informal poolside bar and diner, Soul Kitchen, serves up healthy juices, smoothies, and light snacks, in addition to a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
