A drumroll please… the winner of the country’s only cold drink challenge – The Cool As Summer Refresher Challenge – is Fix Federation with their mouth-watering Passionfruit Cheesecake Milkshake and Summer Fun drinks!
Only Fix Federation could come up with the idea of a decadent cheesecake filling, ice cream, lashings of passionfruit, topped with signature whipped cream, and chunks of lolly cake crumble – all featuring in the Passionfruit Cheesecake Milkshake. Their Summer Fun signature drink tickled the tastebuds for many with its lime, mint, berries and coconut milk flavours.
Followed closely behind was Hudsons and Sierra Café in a two-way tie for runner up for their drinks Beachy Breeze and Summer Berry Blossom.
The challenge, founded by the Hutt City Council to inspire local cafes to be creative and attract people to the Lower Hutt CBD, has grown in popularity since it was launched in 2016. It was also the direct result of the successful Sweet As Hot Chocolate Challenge™, in which Central Hutt cafes create signature hot chocolates for customers to taste and rank over three weeks in winter.
Seventeen hospitality operators including cafes, restaurants, bars, and a bakery in Lower Hutt created their own limited edition signature summer refresher drinks for people to enjoy and then vote for their favourite on its Facebook and Instagram page.
