Building on some great foodie hot spots dotted around South Auckland, Derby Square, Auckland’s newest entertainment and eatery precinct, is set to open in March 2024.
Created as a new-build addition to the award-winning Takanini Town Centre, Derby Square is expected to deliver a curated mix of operators focused on quality of experience.
Designed by architects, Ignite, Derby Square ‘blurs the boundaries between how we live, relax and shop, with boutique-style brick buildings opening directly onto vibrant green spaces,’.
Working closely with the group is award-winning landscape designer, Landlab, who has ensured the town square becomes the focal point for the community, working to provide a flexible activated space for kids to run and play and community events.
Derby Square has already attracted some of the country’s top entertainment businesses and eateries, with Silky Otter confirming they will be opening a state-of-the-art boutique 8-theatre cinema, which will open in the town square.

With the construction of Derby Square well underway, James says they are seeking like-minded food & beverage operators to join the truly unique and brand-attentive businesses already leasing spaces.
