Collaborate to thrive says Restaurant Association

The Restaurant Association of New Zealand is calling on Kiwis to support the local hospitality industry during the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Many hospitality businesses are in a desperate situation as a result of the continued changes in alert levels combined with the border closures,” says Restaurant Association Chief Executive Marisa Bidois.

“Our restaurants and cafes are a much loved part of our communities. We know that diners have their favourite places but many of these may face closure if diners continue to stay away.

“Restaurateurs are an innovative and collaborative bunch and as you might expect many of them have adapted their offering to cater to changing needs. This includes take out options, home delivery, gift vouchers for use at a later date and adapting restaurant environments to cater for personal distancing.”

“Our industry employs 130,000 people across the country so thousands of livelihoods are at risk, and many communities can’t afford this.

“We enjoy a vibrant and diverse dining scene in New Zealand and we want to see that continue so we are calling on Kiwis to continue to support their local establishments.”

The Association is also giving away $1000 of dining vouchers. Anyone that purchases a voucher from the dinefind website will go into the draw to win the vouchers.

Kiwis should follow the #DineOutTakeOutNZ and head to www. dineouttakeout.co.nz to find out more.

What restaurants can do:

  • Go to dineouttakeout.co.nz and download the social tiles, share them as much as you can, encourage others to share them too.
  • Encourage your corporate customers to reward their teams with dining out vouchers

Tell your friends and colleagues to also :

  • Contact favourite local eateries and find out what they have in place for dining in and take out. Support them.
  • Buy a dining voucher for use at a later date. This helps their cash flow. See if your local establishment is offering vouchers or head to the dinefind website
  • Share your experiences online using the #dineouttakeoutNZ to encourage others to do the same.

These activities combined will assist the hospitality sector to survive during these difficult times.
