Not content with winning the Luxury Spa Hotel award at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2016, Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown has now been named New Zealand’s Best Golf Hotel at the 2016 World Golf Awards, which celebrate excellence in golf tourism, world class courses and golf destinations.
Director of operations, Brian Howie believes the awards reflect the resort’s passion for hospitality and delivering first class customer service.
The latest award comes ahead of the ISPS Handa New Zealand Golf Open, to be hosted by Millbrook ‘s 27-hole championship golf course in March 2017. The New Zealand Open is part of the PGA Tour of Australasia, held in partnership with Japan Golf Tour, attracting leading professional golfers.
Millbrook’s golf course was designed by two of New Zealand’s most well known professional golfers. The original 18 hole course was designed in 1993 by Sir Bob Charles and in 2009 Greg turner designed an additional nine holes and remodelled the existing 18 hole course. This provides three interchangeable 18 hole course configurations set in spectacular alpine scenery against the backdrop of the Remarkables Mountain range. Each of the nine hole courses is named after a Queenstown landmark: The Remarkables, The Arrow and The Coronet Nine.
In 2014 Millbrook acquired 66 hectares of land adjacent to the resort which will enable further development of an additional nine holes.
Part of the Millbrook’s attraction also lies with the resorts’ award winning Luxury Spa which apart from offering exquisite massages and luxurious spa treatments, also offers deep tissue massages which assist in sport injury recovery.
