If Ti Point wanted one wine to exemplify its passion for elegant wines of layers and texture, its newly released 2015 Chardonnay ticks all the boxes. With lifted aromas of peach, vanilla and sweet citrus blossom with nutty complexity, it is a joy to savour. Enjoyed with food or alone, the palate is ripe, rich and layered with soft texture and a lingering, zesty citrus peel finish.
From its roots on the Matakana Coast, Ti Point has extended its footprint beyond its original home vineyard north of Auckland. For this wine the skilled winemaking team have carefully selected parcels of grapes from individual Hawke’s Bay growers, who have an appreciation of the rich textures and intricate flavours required to make Ti Point wines.
While it would be easy to classify this as a typical peaches and cream Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay, it offers much more than that, with layers of nutty and citrus characters.
Made from premium Chardonnay fruit harvested under ideal conditions, the wine has undergone French oak fermentation to add depth and complexity. It is full flavoured, supple and smooth drinking now but will comfortably cellar for two to three years.
