Burger King New Zealand has announced it is consolidating creative and media agencies under one roof. Y&R NZ had previously delivered BK’s media strategy, trading and implementation services. BK has now extended Y&R’s remit to include creative, social and digital.
“We have taken the opportunity to improve communication between a variety of disciplines in order to achieve alignment and with an expectation to improve creative output. Speed is critical to our success and a one team approach will strengthen our execution.” says James Woodbridge, General Manager Marketing Burger King New Zealand.
“Burger King has a well-established heritage of doing brave work that expands outside of traditional one-way comms, both here and overseas. This approach fits perfectly with the Y&R style, where media and creative work together to developing campaigns that can’t be ignored,” says Jono Key, Managing Director, Y&R NZ.
“The New Zealand QSR market is one of the most competitive in the world, so the team are looking forward to getting down to the business of selling burgers.”
The sought-after business has sat with Colenso for eight years, with Managing Director, Scott Coldham commenting,
“We’ve worked with Burger King for eight years and formed a strong and resilient partnership that’s seen us navigate the ups and downs of a very volatile category, year after year. Our partnership has seen us deliver the most successful and effective campaigns in the brand’s history in this market, so it’s disappointing they’ve decided to move on. We wish them well in their next chapter.”
The transition between agencies will be completed by mid June, 2018.
