Hall of Fame recipient: Tony Astle ONZM
Industry icon, infamous for his brilliant cuisine and no-nonsense approach, Tony Astle, ONZM, has received AUT’s highest hospitality industry accolade – entry into the university’s Hall of Fame. Astle joins Judith Tabron and Simon Gault as recipients and the award recognises his dedication and contribution to training and the hospitality industry generally, notably through his Parnell based restaurant, Antoines.
Many AUT students in the Faculty of Culture & Society have interned at his restaurant and gone on to lead glittering careers. At the announcement ceremony, held along with the 2016 prize giving for high achieving students, one of Astle’s most loyal customers – Chris Christiansen was present to join the celebration.
