The Auckland Food Show keeps it homegrown

rsz_food_show_made_of_aucklandThe Auckland Food Show is set to take the ASB Showgrounds by storm from this Thursday. The best offerings in food and beverage from across the country from Auckland to the South Island will be vying to seduce the tastebuds of show visitors.

Keeping it local first up, make sure you head along to Made of Auckland, a stand out show feature presented by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED). Made of Auckland celebrates how our region has drawn diverse cultures together to produce a vibrant and thriving food scene.

Discover how the land shapes different foods and flavours, and about the diverse people who call Auckland home. Artisan, boutique and well known food produces with fantastic products make up more than 25 exhibitors on the Made of Auckland stand including delights from The Danish Kitchen, Relish The Thought, Got Pasta and Mahurangi Oysters.

Heading south to what’s available in the Thames-Coromandel District, The Coromandel Food Collective has recreated the front yard of an iconic Coromandel bach scene to offer you organic, sustainably grown fare, fresh lemonade and award winning marmalade, craft beer, delectable marinated mussels and smoky chowder along with chefs who call the Coro home.

Pick up a free Coromandel Food Trail Guide or sample the mouth-watering flavours for yourself at The Auckland Food Show, from Coromandel Food Collective exhibitors Hot Water Brewing Co., Omahu Valley Citrus, Blackbeard Smokehouse, the must-visit Castle Rock Café, Coromandel Flavour and Wilderland Trust who’ve been growing organic and living sustainably since ages ago.

Feel like taking your tastebuds on a journey further south? Then keep an eye out for the exhibitors from the Nelson Tasman area. Chia beverages, Proper Hand Cooked Crisps and The Shortbread House and Crakers 4 Crackers will all be serving up a taste of South Island hospitality. What’s more if you collect 5 stamps from any five Nelson based exhibitors you go in the draw to win a luxurious 4 night getaway to Nelson!

Then moving from the tip of the South Island to the tip of the North; the Northland Food & Wine Collective will be busting out some of the region’s best producers of wines, honey, cheese and olives. Tantalise your tastebuds and really get a taste of Northland by discovering some of the many specialist gourmet products made in the region.

Te Whai Bay Wines, Rawhiti Manuka Honi, Olives on the Hill and Grinning Gecko Cheese Company are a handful of the exhibitors making up northerly cluster. Combined they should make the perfect antipasto platter!

The Food Show is on from Thursday 28 – Sunday 31 July. Early bird tickets start at $26 for adults, $15 for under 12s, while under 5s are free.
