The country’s most iconic multi-sport race, Coast to Coast, has welcomed a new direction for 2016 through its partnership with Moa Brewing Co. as its new beer partner.
The Coast to Coast, which has seen over 18,000 people complete the course in 33 years, will partner with Moa for February’s event for the first time with plans to be involved for a number of years.
Coast to Coast Director, Richard Ussher, has said he is looking forward to Moa coming on board and believes that like Coast to Coast, Moa is great at connecting with an audience that is active in the outdoors, who wants to savour a moment and celebrate it before getting ready to go again with their next adventure.
“As people are looking to enrich their lives and opt for quality over quantity, be it through health and fitness or diet and what they consume, it’s important that we recognise this and ensure we’re aligned with brands that hold the same values. It’s important for Coast to Coast to shift its focus to the modern athlete,” he says.
Moa founder and Certified Cicerone, Josh Scott, who is currently in training for his seventh Coast to Coast race, believes that the brand fit for Moa is perfect.
“The event is a showcase of the best of our country and its athletes. For Moa to be a part of it all is truly exciting. To have our beer involved in a race that I love and respect is a real buzz. We will be doing everything to make sure all the competitors, supporters and media have a fantastic experience with a full range of beer and cider on hand to drink in their special moments,” Josh says.
To celebrate crossing the line at New Brighton Beach, Moa will be providing refreshing post-race beers and ciders for all competitors over the legal drinking age, as well as for the many supporters, volunteers and those landowners and many others who contribute to the annual event.
There will also be temporary outdoor Moa bars, for refreshments amongst some of the most stunning scenery in the country, available for all to relax and drink in the scenery at the end of each day.
On offer at these Moa bars will be a range of its classic brews as well as its aptly named Southern Alps White IPA, a lighter style Session Pale Ale and its Moa Apple Cider.
There will also be refreshments available at the event from Coast to Coast’s non-alcoholic partner, catering to the underage competitors and supporters as well as those who do not drink alcohol.
“The Moa drinker is someone who is particularly proud of our country’s backyard and is active within it. We see the Coast to Coast athletes as the perfect example of this so are incredibly proud to be joining forces with Richard and his team to build what is already an amazing example of New Zealand at its very best,” Josh adds.
Moa will look to promote the Coast to Coast event in the offshore markets in which it operates, including Australia, Brazil, China and Singapore, in an effort to further share the uniquely New Zealand experience worldwide.
