Barker’s of Geraldine has selected four finalists from around the country who are competing to be the new Barker’s 2015 Recipe Developer/Foodie.
Keen foodies Bex Savage from Rolleston, Jess Goodwin from Christchurch, Dianne McDonald from Dunedin and Farzana Rashid from Auckland will find out later this month who has won the nationwide search.
Barker’s encouraged food lovers to create their spin on a classic recipe using Barker’s products. The prize is a 12-month recipe development and social media contract to create delicious recipes using Barker’s products, a trip to the Barker family farm in Geraldine, a one-on-one recipe development and food styling workshop with Annabelle White, plus a special Barker’s gift pack. The total package is worth more than $7,500.
The judging panel includes well-known food writer Annabelle White, food photographer Tamara West and key members of the Barker’s team. The judges were overwhelmed with the scrumptious recipes and impressed with the quality of entries received, particularly the four finalists, who all showed impressive cooking, photography and creativity skills.
Michael Barker says: “We are thrilled with the number and high standard of entries received from talented Kiwis around the country. Our judges have a tough decision ahead!”
Finalist Bex Savage (also known as the Tattooed Baker) admitted “I absolutely love food and I am so excited to be selected as one of Barker’s finalists,” whilst Jess Goodwin said she was “over the moon to be a finalist and have already started a list of delicious recipe concepts that I could create for Barker’s for food lovers to enjoy.”
Barker’s will announce the winner at a media event in Auckland on Tuesday 24 March.
